My dad used to say
How lucky this number was
Always betting on it at the track
The pressure I felt
When he came home broke
Was excruciating
But then again
He had a lot
Of lucky numbers
His dreams were big and
His heart was bigger
In the end he hurt
Himself the most
A sacrifice
For the ones
He couldn’t stop loving
I can still hear the
Song in his voice
Smell his stale
Beer and cigarettes
And 7 years later
